GRAND CHEROKEE WINS DRIVE CAR OF THE YEAR 2011
The Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo CRD has ousted the two-time defending champion and much lauded Land Rover Discovery – a sure sign of the quality, refinement, capability and value achieved by Jeep’s new flagship vehicle.
“The big American charmed Drive’s Car of the Year judges with its punchy diesel engine, thoughtful cabin and genuine off-road ability,” Drive’s Barry Park said of the win. He also added that judges were very impressed by both the level of on-road refinement and value in the new Grand Cherokee.

The multi-award winning 2011 Jeep® Grand Cherokee is now available in Australia with a new 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine. The new engine is more powerful, more fuel efficient and produces lower emissions than its predecessor, while being able to tow up to 3,500kg.
“It’s no secret that Australians love a torquey, fuel-efficient diesel in this category, and this highly anticipated new powerplant has exceeded all expectations,” said Dean Bonthorne, of Chrysler Australia.
Familiar feel to new Cherokee
A BIT of chassis-sharing between Mercedes-Benz and Jeep sees the new Grand Cherokee rolling on the same basic chassis as the upcoming new Benz ML- Class.
